Tea party and Democrats? That’s ironic

When Republican politicos vote with the GOP issue of the moment, liberals and many pedestrian Democrats declare that the GOP is unthinking and in lockstep. Conversely, when the same politicos do not vote for the GOP agenda, Republicans are critically labeled as unfocused and in disarray.

Local Democrat activist Bruce McFarland assessed the SCV Fourth of July parade (“Getting rid of developer kisses,” July 6). He calculated that tea partiers outnumbered Republicans and Democrats combined. Although he made many disparaging remarks about the tea party in general, like accusing Tea Party Patriots–SCV of “passing out money in hopes of getting people to read their tract,” he strongly implied the tea party should unite with Democrats: “Democrats would like one-party rule to be eliminated in Santa Clarita,” i.e. City Council. Note: do we have to wonder if McFarland feels the same way about his Democrats on a national level?

The suggestion of unity is ironic on many levels.

In McFarland’s June 14 appearance on KHTS AM 1220’s program “The Real Side,” he stated: “unfortunately many in the tea party don’t really know anything about politics,” and “elect basically crazy people.” If you believe an organization is that moronic, why would you want them in your sanctimonious group but for the expectation that you would bulldoze and control them to your ways?

Considering older and recent press, one would be hard-pressed to disagree with McFarland’s evaluation of the existing oligarchy (he specifies: “arrogant bullies like City Councilman Frank Ferry”). However, McFarland’s agenda of just-get-the-Democrats-in sounds like a new game show: “Pick your Tyranny.” You can have the residing Chicago-style tactics or the same-old with a new face. We only have to look at the Obama regime.

And the factions of the elitist regime want us to believe the tea party is disgruntled and Republicans are in disarray; at last, true “transparency.”
