Do the math

OK, I get it. They are trying to hold us hostage ,and make us pay $210 million to build a reverse-osmosis system so Ventura County farmers can have clean water downstream.

But what if we don’t build it? According to all articles I have read, the district “may” be fined between $3,000 and $10,000 per day. To me, that means they might levy a fine or they might not.

So, let’s spend a half-minute and do this simple math. If they levy the maximum fine of $10,000 per day (likely?), the district would be on the hook for $3.1 million per year.

If they kept up the maximum fine every day for 57 1/2 years, that would add up to $210 million.

Call me stupid if you want, but I would definitely opt for plan B. How about you?
