Valencia did not have the same luck as Hart on Thursday, in a 4-2 loss to Chatsworth in the first contest of the best-of-three VIBL quarterfinals at Chatsworth High.

Kyle Eaton only allowed three hits - including a two-out, go-ahead double in the bottom of the fifth inning - but three Chatsworth runners scored on five walks.

Eaton gave up all four runs, struck out five and Vikings backstops surrendered four passed balls.

"We played well," Valencia head coach Jared Snyder said. "We did all right. We did everything right against a good team."

Valencia took leads of 1-0 in the top of the first and 2-1 in the fourth. Both times Scotland McKenzie was the catalyst, hitting a double off of the wall in the first, then drawing an RBI walk with the bases loaded.

Valencia could not cash in on a bases-loaded no-out opportunity in the top of the fifth, however, striking out three times in a row. The Vikings went down swinging 10 times in the game.

Valencia's Christian Lopes went 3-for-4.

Game two is at 5 p.m. today at Valencia High. Dylan Jones will get the starting pitching nod. If the Vikings win today's game, the third contest will take place on Saturday at Chatsworth.
