Small business counseling available
Starting Aug. 5, local business owners and entrepreneurs will be able to schedule free one-on-one business counseling sessions with representatives from the Small Business Development Center at the College of the Canyons Canyon Country campus.

The SBDC, which has been ranked No. 1 in the network of centers in the Los Angeles area, promotes and stimulates the growth of small businesses by providing expert, no- or low-cost business, financial and loan counseling and training services.

Sessions will be scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. and held in the Canyon Country campus administration building, located adjacent to Lot 3.

Waste Management launches online recycling service
Waste Management, Inc. has launched http://www.thinkgreenfromhome.com/, a streamlined online service for the recycling of universal household waste, including compact fluorescent lamps, batteries and eventually other types of household electronics.

The service allows consumers to mail in their household waste by purchasing recycling kits from the Web site, as well as learn about other recycling services.

Vino 100 Valencia initiates cork recycling program
Vino 100 Valencia has partnered with TerraCycle to become Santa Clarita’s first cork recycling station. Local residents are now able to bring used wine bottle corks to Vino 100, located at 28112 Newhall Ranch Road in Valencia, regardless of where the wine was originally purchased. The wine speciality store will then ship the corks to TerraCycle as part of their “Cork Brigade” partnership.
