SAN FERNANDO - The fate of accused child-killer Antonio Rodriguez is now in the hands of the jury.

San Fernando Superior Court Judge Ronald S. Coen issued instructions to the jury Tuesday afternoon following closing arguments given by the accused man's defense lawyer Jack R. Stone.

Antonio Rodriguez, 29, is charged with nine crimes including murder, torture and five crimes specifically against children.

He is charged in connection with the beating death of 5-year-old Desarie Elizabeth Saravia whose lifeless naked body ended up on the suburbia front lawn of a Castaic home on Nov. 12, 2004.

The jury deliberated for only 30 minutes Tuesday, then resumed their discussion behind closed doors Wednesday morning.
