Center’s hotline needs volunteers
The Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley is seeking volunteers to help answer the 24-hour hotline. Provides emergency help for domestic violence related callers. Volunteers need to complete a special 40-hour training course prior to answering hotline calls. Dates for the complete 40-hour training at Haven Hills are July 7, 11, 14 and 18.  Volunteers need to attend each of the eight training dates. Cost for 40-hour training is $250. Community Hiking Club

Sunday, July 9 to Tueday, July 11 — Camping at McGill Campground on Mt. Pinos in Los Padres Forest. Two hikes available, 3.5 mile Cuddy Valley View hike or 15-mile, three-summit hike, Saturday, leading up to Mt. Pinos. Meet at 7 a.m., July 9, to carpool to location, bring plenty of water, lunch and snacks.

Saturday, July 17 — Santa Paula Creek Hike, moderate 10 miles through picturesque St. Thomas Aquinas College, then wooded banks, swimming holes and a 25-foot waterfall. Meet at Towsley Canyon, meet 6:50 a.m. for 7 a.m. departure.
