For Hart High's Devin Rodriguez, it's been a busy summer. According the senior-to-be, the busiest ever.

Since the final bell rang at school signaling the start of season, it's been all baseball for the Indians starting first baseman.

Rodriguez's first stop was in Phoenix, Ariz.

From June 19-24, Rodriguez played in the USA 16U Championship tournament.

His ABD Orange County team finished the tournament in second place.

"It was a lot of fun," Rodriguez said. "There was a lot of good competition."

Next stop for Rodriguez was Palo Alto - Stanford University.

Rodriguez was selected to participate in the Stanford All-Star Baseball Camp.

The camp, specifically for players entering into their junior or senior year, took place June 25-28.

In those four days Rodriguez honed his baseball skills focusing on developing his work ethic on the field.

Throughout the summer, Rodriguez has also been competing with the ABD team in the Connie Mack League as well as Hart's VIBL team.

With the Indians loss of 13 seniors last year, Rodriguez, or D-Rod as he is known amongst his teammates, will be one of only six varsity returners and an important offensive factor.

Rodriguez completed his 2008 season with a .384 batting average and a team high 13 doubles.

Hart will play Saugus at home in game three today of the best of three series in the second round of VIBL playoff action.

In Monday's game the Indians defeated the Centurions 13-3, while Saugus was victorious in game one on Sunday 7-5.
