California voters this November will determine the fate of a law that requires cities and counties to make drastic cuts to green house gas emissions.

The California Secretary of State announced Wednesday that a measure to suspend AB 32 qualified for the Nov. 2 ballot.

If passed, the measure would suspend the bill approved by lawmakers in 2006, which requires governments to cut carbon emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. Proponents of the ballot measure say A.B. 32 harms the economy.
