Give me a break, Ferry

Santa Clarita City Councilman Frank Ferry:
“Wow” is all I can say to the dribble you placed in the paper (“Ferry: Stop ‘developmental terrorism,’” June 1).

Give those of us who actually care about the development in our immediate communities the respect that we know what we are talking about.

With all due respect, I live adjacent to the Smiser property and know a hell of a lot more about that property that you or any of the City Council.

Mr. Ferry, do you remember Rivendale? You all now refer to it as Towsley Canyon, hike there and call the house a lodge, but do you really know? No, you do not. I have yet to voice who I am at City Council meetings, but here goes.

I am Rivendale. Thirty-five years ago, my family moved here from Encino and built a beautiful Spanish-style home and a large equestrian center on the property you all call Towsley Canyon.

The Smiser property is a flood plain. All our debris, including the oil sludge from the property behind us as well as our culverts, ended up there. Before you spout off, have the decency to realize there are those of us who have more knowledge than you.

“Towsley Canyon” is where I grew up. You are entitled to your opinion, but please do not think that those of us who are trying to protect our neighborhoods are “developmental terrorists.”

What little respect I may have had for you no longer exists.

I have kept quiet and have not expressed myself, as I am not in it for the glory or political clout, but please, give me a break.
