Elane Geller Holocaust survivor
Elane Geller, a Holocaust survivor and volunteer at the Museum of Tolerance, will speak about her experiences, 4:30 p.m., Thursday, June 10, Barnes & Noble Valencia, 23630 Valencia Blvd., Valencia. Free. Mature content, use discretion if bringing children. Info: (661) 254-5903.

Elks Lodge Flag Day celebration

‘Care for Your Heart’ health fair

Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s “Care for Your Heart” health fair offers free health screenings, valuable healthcare tips and information to promote heart health, including blood pressure monitoring, height and weight analysis, body fat analysis, oxygen saturation and carbon monoxide measurement, cholesterol test, glucose test, and stroke education, 7:30-10:30 a.m., Friday, June 11, Santa Clarita Community Center, 22421 Market St., Newhall. AARP Driver Safety program

Mobile Solutions Braille van
The Mobile Solutions Braille Van will be available for the visually impaired with the sales of assistive devices, library services registration, resources referrals and more, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, 22900 Market St., Newhall. Health Lectures and clinics
Wednesday, June 9 — “Allergies & Summer” presented by Dr. Ronald Schwartz of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
Wednesday, June 16 — “Memory Loss, Dementia & Alzheimer’s Disease: The Basics” presented by Alzheimer’s Association early stage clinical manager Natalie Buriel.
Free blood pressure screening takes place in Activity Room 3 each Wednesday from noon-1 p.m.
Wednesday, June 9 — Free glucose (blood sugar) testing by registered dietitian Lori Robinson. Please refrain from eating within three hours of test.

Caregiver Resource Day
The Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center will hold its annual Caregiver Resource Day and mini community health fair, keynote speaker is Gerontologist Beverly Sanborn on Alzheimer’s disease.  Additional speakers include Judith Harris, M.F.T., on “The Oy & Joy of Caregiving” and certified senior care advisor Myles McNamara of Comfort Keepers In-Home Care. Certified Hypnotist Therapy Training class
Taught by Dr. Michael Holt, NC, CHt, this two-hour weekly class will cover introduction, history and suggestibility, six basic induction types, deepening, testing, post-hypnotic suggestion, potential dangers and ethical issues, stress management and self-hypnosis and certification exam. Cost of the class is $500, $400 without certification. 6-8 p.m., runs through August 26. Seniors receive discount with proof of age.

Santa Clarita Swing Jazz Club
