Marine Pfc. Jake W. Suter, 18, of Stevenson Ranch, died in Afghanistan May 29, 2010.

Memorial services for U.S. Marine Corps Pfc. Jake William Suter are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. today.

The church service is scheduled from 11 a.m. to noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 24443 McBean Parkway in Valencia.

Following the church service, a memorial service is planned for 12:30-12:50 p.m. at Jake Kuredjian Park, 26265 Pico Canyon Road in Stevenson Ranch.

Suter, 18, died the morning of May 29, Afghanistan time, after only five days in the war-torn country. The West Ranch High School graduate died supporting combat operations in Helmand as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, according to a Department of Defense news release issued Wednesday.

A candlelight vigil for Suter was held on Wednesday at the Stevenson Ranch home of his mother and stepfather, Michelle and Chris Unthank.
