My mouth is agape

Margot Webb ("Kagan was an excellent choice," May 22) is in awe of Solicitor General Elena Kagan's record.
I must admit, my mouth is agape, too. You just have to wonder where some people get their news. She has no record. She is a judicial administrator.

Oh, excuse me, she did argue one First Amendment case against a special-interest group about free speech and lost.

A special-interest group, Citizens United, tried to distribute a (favorable) movie about Hilary Clinton in an attempt to influence her campaign. The Supreme Court upheld their right to distribute this movie, and the president of Citizens United had this to say of Kagan: "It is a fundamentally flawed view of the First Amendment and I think it disqualifies her from the High Court."

If Kagan had gotten her way, your words and mine quite possibly someday would have never been allowed to see the light of day.

And in completely unrelated news, I'm sure she was hand-picked by President Barack Obama for the Supreme Court.
