The city of Santa Clarita is plans a great day of free activities for all residents to enjoy on Saturday, June 12 to celebrate the third "National Get Outdoors Day" and to encourage healthy, active, outdoor fun at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex located at 20850 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita 91350.

The list of activities includes sand volleyball clinics (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.), a live concert at the skate park (12 p.m. to 3 p.m.), outdoor basketball games (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.); and free recreational swim at all community park pools (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.).

On "National Get Outdoors Day," cities across America will raise awareness of the benefits of spending active time outdoors and overcome the trends that keep too many Americans indoors and sedentary.

"So much of what makes Santa Clarita unique are the endless opportunities to get outdoors - trails, paseos, open space to hike and well-maintained parks," Mayor Laurene Weste said. "Couple this with the city's programs and facilities, and this makes 'National Get Outdoors Day' a perfect opportunity to showcase what the city does to promote a healthy lifestyle."
