Sheriff’s academy graduation tonight

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will present its most recent graduating class at the College of the Canyons Performing Arts Center tonight, as 49 graduates of Academy Class No.372 will receive their diplomas from Sheriff Lee Baca.

Joining Baca at the ceremony will be the chiefs of the California Department of Insurance and the Beverly Hills, Burbank, Culver City and Glendale police departments.

New deputies and officers will officially receive their badges at the ceremony, which will kick off with a formal class inspection at 5 p.m.

The official ceremony will commence at 6 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center, located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road in Valencia.

Paul Cappitelli, the executive director of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training will provide the keynote address.
