A 47-year-old unemployed transient was charged with robbery after allegedly taking a woman's truck keys by force during a family street brawl in Canyon Country this week.

On Monday, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to a woman's report that she had been assaulted by the father of her 16-year-old daughter, after he allegedly took the keys to her truck and refused to give them back.

Sheriff's deputies referred to the alleged robbery as a "strong arm" incident in their report log.

The couple have reportedly been apart for about eight years.

The confrontation took place at Foxlane Drive near Nadal Street in Canyon Country, when the woman discovered her daughter talking with the daughter's father.

A confrontation followed, after which the couple grappled for the woman's truck keys. The man allegedly grabbed her by the throat, and the woman punched her alleged assailant in the jaw while the daughter jumped on her father's back to pull him off her mother.

There were no physical injuries from the scuffle, according to deputies, nor was there any indication of alcohol or drugs involved.
