DUI checkpoint in SCV Friday night

Posted: May 20, 2010 5:39 p.m.
Updated: May 21, 2010 5:00 p.m.

Deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station will conduct a DUI checkpoint Friday, May 21, beginning at 7 p.m. and ending at 3 a.m. Saturday, May 22.

Authorities will choose the checkpoint location based on previous DUI activity and statistics, and announce the location at a later time.

The goal of the checkpoint is to educate residents about the hazards of drunk driving while enforcing the state's driving-under-the-influence laws.

The checkpoint part of an ongoing effort to safely remove drunk drivers from local streets.

Funding for this enforcement and prevention program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

For additional information, call the SCV Sheriff's Station's Traffic Department at (661) 799-5110
