The American Cancer Society’s 24-hour Relay For Life begins on Saturday, May 22 at 9 a.m. at Central Park and continues until 9 a.m. Sunday.

More than 3,000 Santa Clarita Valley residents and 500 cancer survivors are expected to raise thousands of dollars to support the American Cancer Society’s free local programs and services, making this the largest Relay For Life event in Los Angeles County, according to organizers.

Relay For Life will kick off with opening ceremonies and a survivors' lap at 9 a.m. There will also be a candle-lighting Luminaria Ceremony in remembrance of cancer victims at sundown. The relay ends at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 23.

The event will also feature live entertainment, the fifth annual "Music for a Cause" concert, food and free activities.

This year, 135 teams are expected to participate. Last year’s Relay For Life raised more than $560,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Central Park is located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus 91350.
