Eleanor and Pasquale DeFusco have been married 71 years.

Pasquale and Eleanor (Dixon) DeFusco celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on May 6.

The couple were married on May 6, 1939, in Providence, Rhode Island. Pasquale joined the United States Navy during World War II and attended deep-sea diving school at New York City's Pier 88 where he learned to perform underwater repairs to Navy ships both at sea and in dock.

In 1951, Pasquale and Eleanor moved their family and business (now D&D Construction) west to Sherman Oaks, where Pasquale continue to work until his retirement in 1984.

The DeFuscos moved to Emmett, Idaho in Nov. 1991 and returned to California in Jan. 2000, where they made their home in Saugus.

The couple have four children - Audrey Everts (Tony) of Simi Valley, Kenneth DeFusco (Jan) of Burbank, Carole Bennett of Saugus, and Dennis DeFusco (Maryann) of Canyon Country. They also have 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, with No. 11 due any day.

Pasquale celebrated his 93rd birthday on March 9 and Eleanor will be celebrating her 91st birthday on Aug. 23.

They enjoyed many years camping and fishing in the Mammoth Lakes area with their family and continue to enjoy backyard gardening and large family gatherings.
