The city of Santa Clarita is offering local high school students a unique opportunity to gain work experience and learn about local government firsthand.

The "Youth in Government Internship Program" is a five-week, unpaid, summer program beginning on June 21. It not only offers interns work experience, but also allows them to hear from guest speakers, attend educational excursions, and gain leadership skills, according to a city statement.

Applications are available at www.santa-clarita.com/vip and must be submitted by May 27.
