Jewish Food Festival
Who: Event sponsored by Temple Beth Ami and open to the community
What: The second Santa Clarita Valley Jewish Food Festival comes to Bridgeport Marketplace. More than 20 vendors offering a diverse selection of Jewish delicacies will attend. The festival will also feature art, a bouncy house, photo booth, face-painting, crafts and live music.
Children admitted free; adult admission is $5. A non-perishable grocery item donation can be exchanged for a two-for-one adult admission. A current 25-Score card also grants two-for-one adult admission.
When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday

Via Media classes

Who: St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church
What: Via Media classes offered. In Via Media, St. Stephen’s invites participants into Christian community in a particular way. St. Stephen’s understands religious faith as a matter of ongoing conversation among diverse communities past and present–those with whom we might agree and those with whom we might disagree. Classes are free and open to all.
When: Eight Monday evenings from 7-9 p.m. April 12 to June 7, excluding Monday, May 31

Life Academy classes

Who: First Presbyterian Church
What: The 2010 spring Life Academy continues with two free classes.
“Heaven & Hell/Death & Resurrection:” In 2008 and 2009 two widely popular books The Shack and The Lovely Bones told contrasting visions of what heaven and hell and death and resurrection mean to our culture. Explore what the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, from beginning to end, says about these concepts.

A cosmic adventure
Who: Santa Clarita United Methodist Church
What: “A Cosmic Adventure Praising God” Vacation Bible School. The program includes classes for children 3 years of age through the fifth grade. Register as soon as possible at the Education Table after service or the church office. Cost is $30. Scholarships are available for families unable to pay the donation. Volunteers are needed. Youth sixth grade and above can sign up to help.
When: Vacation Bible School will be 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. July 19-23

Singing in Spring
Who: Santa Clarita United Methodist Church
What: Fourth annual Spring Ring and Sing Concert hosted by the church’s bell choirs. All vocal choirs, bell choirs, ensembles, bands and solo artists are invited to participate. Last year, the Bell Boys stole the show with the Can-Can.  This year, they have added a few new members to become “Ring of Fire” and hope to dazzle with the Bell Boogie. Admission is free.

“Unknown Artist” to perform
Who: Santa Clarita United Methodist Church
What: The group know as Unknown Artist—band members are Ben Rhodes-Wickett, Bob Rhodes, Cassie Nickols, Rev. Dan Lewis, and Won-Seok Yuh—will be telling the story of the Prodigal Son using secular music and multimedia. Admission is free, however an offering will be collected with a portion going to support the Santa Clarita Valley Emergency Winter Shelter.

Friendly Valley service

Who: The Friendly Valley Community Church (United Methodist)
What: Pastor Stan Fix will present “The Forgiveness of Sin,” part of the peoples’ choice sermon series. Fellowship and coffee will follow the service. All are welcome.

Real Life grand opening
Who: Real Life Church
What: Vision Builders group is proud to celebrate with Real Life the grand opening of the new 42,000-square-foot “green” worship facility which includes a 1,200 seat sanctuary with stadium theater-style seating, an outdoor amphitheater, a coffee house, children’s facilities and administrative offices. The event will include a ribbon cutting, cotton candy, shaved ice, popcorn, giant slides, an inflatable bungee run and more.
