Want to get a sneak peek of how the Santa Clarita Valley will look 30 years from now?

City and county planners on Tuesday will present the latest — one of the most significant sections — of the long-term One Valley, One Vision general plan at a public meeting on Tuesday.

Officials will explain the land use section of a plan that, for the first time, melds the city’s vision and the county’s vision for planning in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The land use section designates the various types of zoning throughout the valley and outlines local growth projections and how it will be managed.

“The Draft Land Use Element reflects the city’s as well as the county’s objectives and policies for responding to planning trends and urban growth patterns in this valley for decades to come,” OVOV Project Manager Jason Smisko said in a statement.

The 73-page land use section and its adjoining map is posted on the city’s Web site at www.santa-clarita.com/vgp.

The city has already released the draft safety element and the conservation and open space element earlier this year. Those are also available for viewing online.

A study session for the circulation and noise element is scheduled for September and the housing element will be released in the fall. The entire One Valley, One Vision general plan will likely be adopted next spring.

Members of the public are encouraged to speak at Tuesday’s meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Century Room on the first floor of City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Blvd.
