Sheriff’s deputies arrested a local registered sex offender Thursday on suspicion of possessing child pornography and were also searching for five others who may have illegally moved without alerting authorities, according to a sheriff’s report.

Forty deputies combed the valley and made surprise visits to the homes of 125 offenders to see if they were violating the law.

The name of the man who was arrested was not being released, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s Sgt. Darren Harris.

He said the arrest involves the Internet and will most likely lead to a federal investigation.

An investigation into determining whether the five other offenders are out of compliance remains ongoing by Santa Clarita detectives.

Those out of compliance could face arrest and jail time.
