Let’s take control of the price of oil

I wonder what would happen if President Bush decided to sell a lot of the oil that he has in our reserves, say, for $75 per barrel. Just what would the buyers of futures in oil do? Maybe lose a lot of money?

Maybe the price of gas might come down a little. Oh, but we don't have the refineries to handle all that oil, and there is no place to build a few.

Since two-thirds of California is owned by our government, you would think at least one of our highly-paid politicians could find a place for a few of them. I just know no local politician would have the courage to find a site because they are all so afraid of NIMBYs and unknowing environmentalists.

But if any of them had a little courage, we might get a little relief at the pump. Should help for the short term.

Long term, we have known oil in the Atlantic, in the Gulf of Mexico, in the Pacific, and in Northern Alaska, But our government, that is, our elected officials, have seen fit to make it illegal to drill in these places.
Tell them to get off their posteriors and help us to become independent of Middle Eastern oil. Let Saudi Arabia eat its oil.

I understand that there is more oil in the coal oil shale of the Colorado Rockies than in all of the Eastern countries combines, but our elected officials have made it illegal to touch that source.

Cheap energy is so important. After World War II we built many nuclear power plants in Germany, France, and Japan. They have cheap, clean energy.

Let's get behind building many nuclear plants so that we have a chance to compete with them. We, the silent people, had better let our politicians know that we are tired of them listening to the wackos.
