May 22-23
The 12th annual Relay For Life to benefit the American Cancer Society will be held 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 22 and 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 23. Central Park, 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, Saugus. Teams will have at least one team member walking around the field for 24 hours. There will be live entertainment, food, games and contests. All cancer survivors can walk the Survivor’s Lap Saturday 9 a.m. Luminaria ceremony 9 p.m. to reflect and remember loved ones lost to cancer. Center’s hotline needs volunteers
The Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley is seeking volunteers to help answer the 24-hour hotline that provides emergency help for domestic violence related callers. Volunteers will need to complete a special 40-hour training course in order to answer the local hotline. The Santa Clarita Valley Domestic Violence Center is the only one of its kind in the region, providing a 24-hour hotline, a local shelter house, individual and group counseling services as well as emergency help for victims of domestic violence. Dates for the complete 40-hour training at Haven Hills are: June 13, 16, 20, 30 and July 7, 11, 14, 18.  Volunteers would need to attend each of the eight training dates.
