Mind our own business

Regarding “Legislator calls for Arizona boycott” (The Signal, April 28):

It’s interesting to see that our dysfunctional state government still has time to overstate and overreact to Arizona’s new immigration law.

More power to Arizona. At least it is doing something about illegal immigration — something our federal or state governments have been willing to do.

With people like Darrell Steinberg ever-ready to waste our precarious budget money on grandstanding, it’s a sure bet that we never will do anything about it.

Steinberg says “the law is directed at people with brown skin.” It is the illegal immigrants who force the issue by, in effect, hiding among the legal immigrants.

If you want to check for them, what does Steinberg suggest? Check all the Chinese people? I don’t recall Arizona having a fit when California passed Proposition 187.

Maybe we should just mind our own business. We have enough of our own problems.
