City Council wrap: Notes from this week's meeting

Here’s a roundup of other action at Tuesday’s meeting of the Santa Clarita City Council:

n Adopt an update to the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Master Plan. PASSED

n An agreement with Los Angeles County for the city of Santa Clarita to provide bus services for the Santa Clarita Valley’s unincorporated areas. The contract will not exceed $2.4 million. PASSED

n Adoption of amendments to the Downtown Newhall Specific Plan. Changes include more flexible zones for housing types, modifications to building height limits. PASSED

n A resolution approving the final Integrated Regional Water Management Plan. PASSED

n Submit an application for state funding for the city’s first-time home buyer program. The program allows the city to help with the down payment for first-time buyers with low and moderate-income. PASSED

n Designate Mayor Bob Kellar as the voting delegate and council members Marsha McLean and Laurene Weste as alternates for the 2008 League of California Cities Annual Conference. PASSED

n An ordinance that would require structures and multi-unit gated communities to have an emergency key system installed on the premises for fire safety and other emergency purposes. PASSED to a second reading.

Summer break
n The Santa Clarita City Council will be on summer recess from July 9 through Aug. 25. The next regular meeting will be held on Aug. 26 at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, located at 23920 Valencia Blvd.
