Roundabout tips

A big thanks to whomever approved and built the new Hasley Canyon Road freeway on- and off-ramps in Castaic.

They are efficient and save time on a daily basis. However, I have seen some crazy stuff happen in our new roundabouts.

Plus, there have been several collisions. Training for the drivers of California and proper signs are lacking. There is one golden rule that needs to be followed: "The driver in the roundabout has the right of way."

On a regular basis, drivers don't yield when entering the roundabout and cut other drivers off! Today, again, I saw a driver stop in the middle of the roundabout, looking confused.

Roundabouts are prevalent in other cities because of the great cost savings of stop lights, and saving drive time.

I wish Caltrans would improve the signs on both sides of the freeway to clearly state how the roundabouts work. Apparently many people don't have a clue.
