June fine craft show
The city of Santa Clarita will host its june Fine Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 12 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 13 at Old Orchard Park.

Join fellow residents and art enthusiasts at the Fine Craft Show to shop for fine hand-crafted items and one-of-a-kind gifts from more than 80 vendors, including intricate and colorful hand-crafted jewelry, beautiful paintings, pottery, woodwork, ceramics and items perfect for the summer season.

Old Orchard Park is located at Newhall 25023 Avenida Rotella.

Santa Clarata to host USL women's soccer championship
The city of Santa Clarita will serve as the host city for the 2010 United Soccer Leagues W-League Championship, presented by Umbro.

The W-League semifinals and finals, featuring many of the top elite women's domestic and international stars, will be held July 29-31 at Canyon High School's Harry Welch Stadium, with the finals televised nationally on Fox Soccer Channel.

The 2010 W-League championship will be held in a "final four" format, with two semifinals played on Thursday, July 29 at Harry Welch Stadium and the winners meeting for the championship on Saturday, July 31.

A consolation game featuring the other two semifinalists will precede the final.

Worksource center june job fair
The Santa Clarita WorkSource center will host its next monthly job fair on Friday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Santa Clarita WorkSource center located in the College of the Canyons university center.

The event will focus on self employment and commission-based jobs, with local businesses conducting interviews on site and will offer information to attendees about starting their own business.

The Santa Clarita WorkSource center is located at 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Suite 250.

2010 electric lawn mover exchange program
Upgrade your gas powered lawn mowers for energy efficient electric models at a fraction of the cost with the electric lawn mower exchange program, presented by the south coast air quality management district and the california air resources board in cooperation with Southern California Edison and Los Angeles department of water and power.

Registration is currently underway for the Santa Clarita installment of the program, hosted at the College of the Canyons on Saturday, July 17.

Once registered, residents simply bring their gas-powered mowers and proof of Santa Clarita residency to the College to trade up their mowers for one of the following cleaner, greener models:

• Neuton 14" cutting width 24v: $100 (a $300 value)

• Neuton 19" cutting width 36v: $165 (a $335 value)

• Black & Decker 19" cutting width 24v: $100 (a $250 value)

• Black & Decker 19" cutting width 36v: $165 (a $285 value)

National Get Outdoors Day
Saturday, June 12 is National Get Outdoors Day and the city of Santa Clarita is encouraging community members to head outside and get active.

The new national event is designed to combat sedentary lifestyles and put a stop to america's growing obesity epidemic, and a host of outdoor opportunities are available to residents right here in healthy Santa Clarita.

Play baseball, basketball, soccer, football and more at city parks, take a dip at the Aquatic Center, practice your skills at the city's skate Park, or pedal your way along the city's more than 60 miles of trails and paseos.

Whatever your preference, there is sure to be a city park, facility or activity suit your recreational taste.

Summer camp fun
The city of Santa Clarita is now holding registration for all 2010 summer camps including Camp Clarita, Voyager Camp, sports camps, specialty camps and a junior lifeguard program.

All camp activities are tailored to suit the ages of the participants and the city offers camps for children from 3 years old to those entering 9th grade.

Parents are encouraged to sign up their children early to get the sessions they want.

Each camp group is overseen by at least one full time director and an assistant director, in addition to several counselors.

All Camp Clarita staff is fully-trained and certified in both first aid and CPR, so parents never have to worry about the safety of their kids.
