The sixth annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast takes place from 7-8:30 a.m. Thursday at Hyatt Regency Valencia.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.

The theme is “Prayer for such a time as this.” The keynote speaker will be Rick Green, co-host of “WallBuilders Live!,” a radio show aiming to educate Americans on the role of religion in American history.

“It’s Christian in nature, but everybody’s invited to it,” said Joe Messina, chair of the Santa Clarita Valley Mayors Prayer Breakfast. “It’s not evangelical in nature. It’s truly, strictly a prayer breakfast.”

Green is a conservative Republican who was narrowly defeated last month for a seat on the Texas Supreme Court.

Mayors from several Southern California cities have been invited, as well as U.S. Congressman Howard “Buck” McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, state Senators Tony Strickland, R-Simi Valley, and George Runner, R-Lancaster, and Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich.

About 400 people attended last year’s event, and Messina said the Dunamis Group, which sponsors the event, expects about as many people this year.
