Alessandra Barrett plays violin at a workshop in October inside The Wild Beast, a multiuse facility at California Institute of the Arts. Cal Arts will host a concert there Saturday at 8 p.m. See story, A3.

California Institute of the Arts will unleash The Wild Beast at 8 p.m. on Saturday, when the Valencia art school hosts a dedication and celebration of the new multiuse music pavilion.

The Wild Beast is a new structure on campus that transforms from an outdoor performance space to an air tight concert and classroom venue.

The public is invited to an evening of live music as part of the CalArts World Music and Dance Festival 2010 — the first outdoor concert on the grounds of CalArts.

Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic and a blanket to enjoy The Wild Beast’s open-air music configuration with both fixed and lawn seating in The S. Mark Taper Foundation Courtyard. Admission is free, but advance registration is required.

The campus is located at 24700 McBean Parkway in Valencia. For more information and to register, go to calarts.edu/wildbeast.
