Last month's April LA Regional Foodbank kick-off at the SCV Senior Center was a big success. For this month, the Foodbank will be delivering free food kits to qualified seniors at the Senior Center, 22900 Market St., on the regularly scheduled third Friday, May 21, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

To be eligible you must be 60 years or older, and have proof of income (Social Security, SSI statements, bank statements, check stubs, or a Medi-Cal card), and a picture ID. Income eligibility for seniors is $14,079 annually or less ($1,174 monthly) for a one-person household, or $18,941 annually or less ($1579 monthly) for a two-person household.

To qualify at first registration, you must be present. However, if you bring an authorized caregiver with you, they may pick up your food kits on future delivery days. Food kits contain meats, canned fruits & vegetables, dry milk and related products, cereals and other grain products, and more. You may still continue to use the SCV Food Pantry as well as receive free food kits from the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank.
