A Canyon Country man died and two others were injured when a sport-utility vehicle tumbled off of an embankment on Highway 14 near Agua Dulce, California Highway Patrol officials said Monday.

Passenger Brian Flores, 27, was not wearing a seatbelt and died after he was ejected from the vehicle, said CHP Officer John Lutz.

Just after 11 p.m. Sunday, Robert Alaniz, 28, of San Fernando was driving with Flores and Anthony Holguin, 19, of Van Nuys in a Ford Expedition on the northbound 14 freeway, the CHP report said.

Alaniz lost control of the vehicle just south of Agua Dulce Canyon Road and crashed through a guardrail. The Expedition overturned several times down an embankment, the report said.

Ambulances transported Alaniz and Holguin, to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for their injuries.

CHP does not suspect involvement of alcohol or drugs. The crash’s cause was under investigation
