Big ballot problems

Thanks for your letters on voting, candidates and the elections.

There's a big problem that should be addressed, that I came upon as I tried (in vain) to mail my mail-in ballot.

Three times - not once, not twice, but three times - my ballot came back to our mailbox as regular postmarked mail.

Three times I had to take time to stand in lines at the post office to ask - no, beg - that there had to be a way to solve this problem.

"It's the machines that read the envelopes," I was told.

Three times? I finally got to a supervisor, who offered to put my ballot in a dispatch envelope that would go to the Registrar of

If this piece of mail were of less importance, it wouldn't be so critical. But my ballot? The ballot that I respect so much, and depend on, to exercise my rights as an American citizen?

What can we do about this? I was told by the supervisor that I wasn't the only one coming back to the post office to insist on better service. Perhaps the staff at the post office could pick out the easily identifiable large, yellow envelopes for hand-stamping?

Thank you for allowing me to share my frustration with the post office. I urge others who have this problem in the future to bombard the supervisors. There's got to be a way to solve this.
