Easter disappointment

For several years now, we have enjoyed the annual Easter Egg Hunt held at Valencia Glen Park.

This year, imagine our surprise when we arrived with our 6-year-old and 2-year-old to find the sprinklers on and no Easter Egg hunt.

We quickly learned that the event was relocated this year, and raced across town to not-so-Central Park to join 50,000 or so other residents of Santa Clarita for a truly disappointing event.

In previous years, this was a small, intimate neighborhood event shared with neighbors. This year, it was a bit like being in the mosh pit at a Wiggles concert.

I am sure that there must be a budgetary explanation for this change, although I can't imagine centralizing this event would result in any meaningful savings.

I implore the usually wonderful Parks and Recreation Department to bring back the neighborhood park Easter Egg hunt next year.
