City Councilman Frank Ferry was re-elected, edging out challenger David Gauny by 32 votes, Santa Clarita officials announced today.

The two candidates were initially separated by 69 votes after last Tuesday's election. City officials today counted 608 previously unopened ballots.

The final results: Ferry, 6,510 and Gauny, 6,478.

While the gap narrowed, Ferry remained ahead. Gauny said last week he would ask for a recount if the race remained close.
