Santa Clarita officials will count the remaining hundreds of City Council election ballots on Wednesday, possibly revealing the fates of an incumbent and a challenger who have been separated by only 69 votes since last Tuesday.

The count will take place about 11 a.m. at City Hall in the Council Chambers following a brief meeting by the Ballot Board.

City Councilman Frank Ferry received 6,256 votes last week, while challenger David Gauny received 6,187.

Santa Clarita officials received 641 ballots that have not been counted, though some of those may have since been disqualified.

The actual number of ballots that will be counted on Wednesday will be announced later today, city spokeswoman Gail Ortiz said.

The Ballot Board meeting and counting will be streamed live on, Ortiz said.
