Insensitive outage

I am extremely frustrated with Southern California Edison for planning an outage in Castaic on March 29 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

That happens to be the eve of a very important Jewish holiday, Passover, for which preparation begins in the home many hours before sundown.

Passover is a major holiday in the Jewish religion. It is observed in homes throughout the world, the state, Los Angeles County and even Castaic, at sundown on the evening preceding the first day of the holiday.

Central to this holiday is the Passover Seder. The Seder is a ritual dinner where Jewish families and friends gather at dinner time to retell the story of Passover (Moses, Pharaoh, the plagues and the Israelites' Exodus from Egypt).

It's difficult for me to comprehend the insensitivity of the "planners" at Edison who do not bother or care to look at their calendars to avoid or understand important holidays.

Would they even consider planning an outage on April 2 (Good Friday) or Dec. 24? I doubt it.

I've already begun serious research on installing solar panels for my home. According to Mike Carr, the gentleman who oversees these "planned" outages in our area for Edison, "it's my right to go solar."

So, very soon you'll have one less customer you need to serve or not care about.

Unlike Edison and Mike Carr, I'm certain that the sun will not let me down - ever.
