IRL driver Helio Castroneves, of Brazil, looks on during qualifying of the inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Alabama auto race at the Barber Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 10, in Birmingham, Ala.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Last year's Grand Prix of Long Beach was a blur for Helio Castroneves.

A day after being acquitted on tax evasion charges, the popular Brazilian driver was back in his No. 3 Team Penske car qualifying for his first race of the season. Even with the short preparation time, he finished seventh and was plenty pleased with it.

This year, there's no drama, no rushing, no emotional seesaw. Just joy.

Coming off his first win of the season - and as a father - in Alabama, Castroneves is excited to be back in Long Beach this weekend for the Long Beach Grand Prix, one of his favorites races on the IndyCar circuit.

And with more than a day to get ready, he's hoping for an even better finish.
