A fire consumed five acres Friday afternoon near the Golden Valley Road exit southbound off Highway 14.

Inspector Frank Garrido said the fire was reported at 4:18 p.m. and was reportedly moving westbound before fire officials downgraded it from a brush fire to a grass fire.

The fire was contained and knocked down an hour later.

Garrido did not have a cause for the fire, but said it was reported as multiple small fires.
