Valencia High School is looking for community and business leaders who would be willing to spend a few hours on Thursday afternoon, May 13, to judge graduating seniors who are completing their Career Exploration Projects with formal presentations.

The presentations conclude a full semester of career exploration work, including 45 hours of internship in the career of the student's choice.

For the final presentation, students produce an eight to 10 minute presentation delivered to a panel of judges consisting of community members, parents and educators.

Students are evaluated on the basis of professionalism, purpose, public speaking, knowledge and organization of subject matter, body language, personal appearance, poise and confidence.

The Career Exploration Project is offered to all Valencia High School seniors as a culmination of their high school experiences. The intent of the program is to reinforce the relevancy of the learning experience while producing a student who is better prepared to enter the emerging work force.

Volunteers help by evaluating the readiness of Valencia students and providing them with valuable feedback which is vital to the overall process.

Volunteers are needed from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on May 13. Participants are asked to respond by April 25 to allow the school to schedule all of the students and their evaluating panels.
