This May, in celebration of Mother's Day, SCV Moms Blog is encouraging all moms to stop the excuses and step into the shot. It happens every day, mom pulls out the camera to take a photo, snapping countless pictures of the kids. But how often does she appear in the shot? Almost never!

It's time to "Get in the Picture," a new movement that will connect moms and their families with the best and brightest photographers in the Santa Clarita Valley. Throughout the promotion, dozens of participating photographers will offer photo packages at 50% off their regular rates to SCV moms.

In addition, by submitting personal stories, SCV Moms Blog members will be entered to win a Grand Prize of a complete makeover, including hair cut and color by Lisa McMullen of Brow Bar Spa and makeup by Sally Van Swearingen, creator of Studio Essentials and co-owner of The A-List Hair & Make Up Studio.

Then, Mom will be sent on a private family photo shoot provided by Renee Bowen Photography. Several photography-related runner up prizes will also be awarded. The contest runs April 12 to May 21, with the winners announced May 31.

For Jackie MacDougall, co-founder of SCV Moms Blog, "Get in the Picture" is a personal mission.

"When I was three, my mom passed away. As I got older, her memory faded and all I was left with was one photo of us together. While most don't experience what I did, moms know how fleeting time can be. We use every excuse not to be in the photo, but we shouldn't deny our children or ourselves the opportunity to hold onto those memories."

SCV Moms Blog is the ultimate destination for parents to connect, find local happenings, get exclusive deals and candidly discuss topics that evoke positive change and inspire a better quality of life.
