The newest member of The Signal team, Advertising Director Cliff Chandler. He brings more than 10 years of experience in advertising sales to our newspaper.

Newspaper veteran Cliff Chandler, who has more than 10 years of experience in advertising sales, joins The Signal’s senior management team as advertising director, Signal Publisher Ian Lamont announced Saturday.

Chandler served as retail advertising director at the San Francisco Examiner and was general manager of the Los Angeles Daily News’ Santa Clarita and Antelope Valley editions.

He has been manager of retail, real estate, automotive and classified advertising at three different newspapers and most recently managed retail, real estate and automotive advertising for the three-newspaper San Gabriel Valley News Group.

“I look forward to building upon the success that The Signal has had in connecting local retailers to local consumers in creative and cost-effective marketing solutions,” Chandler said.

“The Signal represents the voice of the community here in the Santa Clarita Valley, and I am truly excited to be a part of both.”

Lamont said Chandler arrives at The Signal at a key time as the firm continues to expand its multimedia presence with the newspaper, special publications, online and social networking venues.

“With our ability now to offer virtually all possible marketing and promotional methods to reach SCV customers, it was critical that we hire an experienced and highly skilled ad executive,” Lamont said. “Cliff is that ad executive, and he brings the added bonus of already knowing our market because he lives here.”

Chandler and his wife, Julie, moved to the Santa Clarita Valley in September 2009, leaving the Bay Area behind.

“We fell in love with the community,” Chandler said of the years he and his wife worked in the Santa Clarita Valley. When it came time to select a Southern California locale, there was no question where they wanted to live.

A 24-year-old son living in Ventura and other relatives living nearby sealed the deal, Chandler said.

The couple bought a home in Newhall near Via Princessa.

“I am now proud and excited to call the Santa Clarita Valley home,” he said.

“His leadership and experience are a great addition to The Signal team,” Lamont said. “Cliff will make a big impact with all our clients.”
