Our City Council election is Tuesday. Many of you will vote before that day by absentee ballot. By all means, please vote — and make your vote an “informed vote.”

Many of my friends have asked me why I have come out in support of David Gauny. Simply put, I tell you he is a good, intelligent man who cares about this city that he and his wife, Tracy, and children live in.

Now, to be a bit more specific: I first became familiar with David during the issue of the hospital expansion and the associated office buildings development.

Whatever your position was regarding the proposed project, when David came forward to speak, you were listening to a well-prepared and articulate person who used a common-sense approach to the matter.

David and I have come to know one another and have spent a lot of time talking about this city. We have talked about many significant matters such as the cleanup and planning for the Whitaker-Bermite site (996 acres that sits to the south of the Saugus Speedway).

We have talked about Cemex; One Valley, One Vision; business retention and creation; public safety; transportation matters; and much more.

During our discussions I was very impressed to find the level of knowledge David possesses regarding these matters. Clearly, for someone still relatively new to the political scene of this city, David has worked hard to be well -informed.

David is a person with no agenda other than wanting to do what’s right for our families living here.

Certainly there is a lot more that could be said about David Gauny and this city. On a personal note, I was very appreciative when David, along with so many more fine citizens, came forward and supported me regarding my stance against illegal immigration.

We have a great opportunity on Tuesday to do something huge for this city. Please join my wife, Kathy, and me in voting for David Gauny for Santa Clarita City Council.
