We need more schools

I am 16 years old, and I am very concerned about the overflow of kids in the high schools in Santa Clarita.

Last year, the classrooms were only allowed 38 students maximum, and in the new 2009-2010 school year the maximum number of students allowed in a classroom is 41.

This high number of students allowed in a classroom takes away one-on-one time between student and teacher. There are too many students failing classes because they don’t understand something, because the teacher doesn’t have enough time to teach it to that individual student.

I think that there should be more high schools in Santa Clarita, and that the Castaic high school should be a No. 1 priority to be built.

The future of yours, and so many other children, is in the hands of adults who don’t fully understand the issue because when they were growing up the economy wasn’t even a fraction of what we have let it become today.

I hope that this letter may be the first of many teenage students speaking out for our future.
