Get it right the first time

In today’s edition of The Signal (“Library design called into question,” March 25), I read that the City Council is now saying they don’t feel the new library fits with “Old Town Newhall” and that they need a new rendering.

Of course, this will cost more money.

My question is, why does everything have to be done twice? The parking mess in Newhall — The city realized it was a bad decision to make cars back in, so it re-striped Main Street to the original way.

That cost the taxpayers.

The bike lane along Decoro Drive — oops! Wrong decision, let’s re-paint — again a cost to the taxpayers.

Now the library — what rendering did they look at when they decided to go with the current one? Now, all of a sudden it does not look “Western” enough and we are back to the drawing board? Really.

Let’s hope with the coming elections the community will elect council members who can make the right decision the first time and save the taxpayers the cost of always “redoing.”
