Graduation is a rite

My child is an eighth-grader this year, and I would like to see her graduate.

Why not charge each of the 3,562 eighth-graders $15? This will bring in $53,430, enough to cover the $40,000 needed, plus an additional $13,430.

This is assuming that 25 percent will not pay or can’t afford it. Seems like an easy fix.

Maybe the William S. Hart Union High School District administrators will realize that graduation is an important rite of passage for the children in our valley.

If the district cancels the commencement ceremonies, the economy of the Santa Clarita Valley will suffer.

The clothing stores and florists will miss out on a lot of extra revenue and the city will not get their sales-tax dollars.
