Forever in our hearts

Kudos to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau, regarding the cold case solved (“A cold case unraveled,” March 19).

I was a classmate of Marcia Christian. We were student nurses in the class of 1976 at College of the Canyons. Marcia was our youngest student nurse — only 19 years old. She was an accomplished musician and a caring, compassionate individual.

I saw Marcia at the nursing registry in Van Nuys on the day of her (disappearance). She was nervous and excited about her job interview. I told her she would do fine, and then we parted.

Not more than three days later, my nursing instructor came to our local hospital where I was working to tell me the sad news of her death.

Over the years, I have thought of Marcia many, many times and wondered who could have committed this horrific act of violence, and then came the article in The Signal that her case had been solved.

I hope this has helped her family in some way, and (I want) her family to know Marcia Christian will remain forever in our hearts — forever young.
