Two men are behind bars today on felony burglary charges after they reportedly stole chrome rims and stereo equipment from a locked storage cabinet inside a garage in the 22000 block of Oakridge Drive in Saugus, according to a report from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.

Alejandro Diaz, 28, from Sylmar, and Luis Muro, 27, from San Fernando, were booked Monday afternoon at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on felony burglary charges, the report said.

Deputies were alerted by a Saugus resident who called and reported that she had caught the men taking the items from the cabinet and yelled at them. The men fled the area in a white Toyota Corolla at a high rate of speed, according to the report.

Deputies were called in and immediately began checking the area.

A short time later, a traffic collision occurred near Market Street and Railroad Avenue in Newhall involving a vehicle with the same description. A deputy in the area spotted the two suspects as they attempted to leave the scene of the collision and detained them.

The two men were taken to an area hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and later released to deputies and arrested. Deputies brought a witness to the scene who reportedly identified the car and the stolen property.

Diaz was on felony parole and is held without bail pending court proceedings. Muro is held in lieu of $50,000 bail pending arraignment.
