La Mesa Junior High School seventh-grader Justin Dulay presented American Red Cross representative Rick Mallory with a $166 donation to the American Red Cross from Leslie Conners’ world history classes.

The donation will benefit Haiti following the country’s devastating earthquake. Conners’ classes are in the middle of a Medieval Times simulation and Dulay is king in his classroom kingdom.

As king, he asked for “taxes” for Haiti earthquake victims from students in his kingdom, and the idea carried on through all of Conners’ seventh-grade classrooms at La Mesa.
