The Social Security Bill (HR 7260) was passed in 1935. Medicare and Medicaid was signed into law July 30, 1965.

IRAs were introduced in 1974, and the 40lK added to the IRS code in 1978.

In every one of these social programs, the Democrats had the majority in the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Throughout our history, universal health care plans have been proposed.

During the eight years of the George W. Bush administration, he had six years of a Republican majority in Congress. I don’t recall one word about universal health care. Why won’t the Republicans initiate a fiscally responsible plan?

In our lifetime? Ask the party of “no.”
